by BMHL

Burlington, April 6, 2024 — In a thrilling showdown, func.media clinched the Burlington Men's Hockey League (BMHL) championship title with a 5-3 victory over Krown Rust Control, marking the end of an intense and action-packed season. The game, held in front of a packed crowd, saw both teams leave it all on the ice, but it was Chase Dobbie's Black Team, sponsored by func.media, who came out on top.

The championship game started with Krown Rust Control, led by Gino Deluca, applying early pressure. They managed to score the first goal, energizing their side of the rink. However, func.media responded quickly, with two back-to-back goals, shifting the momentum in their favor. The game became a seesaw battle from that point on, with both teams showcasing their skill and determination.

By the third period, func.media found their stride, sealing the win with two more goals, and ultimately defeating Krown Rust Control 5-3. The final whistle was met with cheers and celebrations as func.media hoisted the KAP Cup for the second year in a row.

Krown Rust Control, though disappointed, showed immense heart throughout the match and were gracious in defeat.

Earlier in the day, the Consolation Game proved to be just as exciting. J and G Quality Meats, managed by Chris Falco, faced off against FP Fitness, co-managed by Brendan Mackay and Jake Shields. Both teams were hungry for redemption after a hard-fought season.

J and G Meats managed to edge out a tight 4-3 victory, sealing their third-place finish. FP Fitness battled hard and tied the game late in the third period, but a last-minute goal by J and G Meats secured their win.

“We wanted to finish the season strong, and I’m proud of our effort tonight,” said Chris Falco. “It’s always tough coming so close to the finals, but this win is a nice way to end the year.”

In the much-anticipated Toilet Bowl Finals, Nickel Brook Brewing Co., led by Jamie Meyer, went head-to-head with Gas Line Installers, captained by John Kolic, in a game that was as gritty as it was entertaining.

Though the title of Toilet Bowl Champion may not come with the same prestige as the KAP Cup, both teams fought fiercely, eager to end their seasons on a high note. While the final score remained unreported, the battle between Nickel Brook and Gas Line Installers was a testament to the spirit of BMHL, where every game, no matter the stakes, brings out the competitive fire in each player.
